Barrage: The Far Companies

Do not miss the crowdfunding campaign!

The Far Companies is a new expansion for Barrage, a well-known and loved worker placement and resource management game co-created by Simone Luciani and ranked in BGG’s Top 40. It introduces two entirely new companies, each reshaping how players approach the game.

The Japanese company employs a novel dam system, using elevations like bases and dramatically expanding dam placement possibilities. However, these structures are limited in height and capacity — and require Excavators instead of Concrete Mixers, changing how machinery is used.

The Brazilian company embodies adaptability and dynamic development. Bases, Elevations, and Conduits can be constructed in any order, allowing creative and powerful combinations. Yet, the most rewarding bonuses come at a cost — sometimes requiring the permanent loss of machinery.

The Far Companies is not a stand-alone game and requires Barrage core game for play.

  • Two powerful new companies with unique strategic identities. Expand your game with the Japanese and Brazilian companies. Each comes with new mechanical twists and offer a special power unlocked upon constructing their third powerhouse.
  • Replayability Boost. The new content offers enough strategic variety to rekindle your interest in Barrage even if you think you’ve seen everything the game has to offer.
  • Great Compatibility. Like other products in Barrage line, it is fully compatible with other expansions, allowing for nearly unlimited customization.

In Barrage, players take on the roles of international companies competing to harness the power of rivers by building dams, raising their capacity, storing water and channeling it through tunnels to powerhouses.

Over the course of five rounds, players use their limited resources to fulfill power requirements, complete contracts, and outmaneuver rivals to claim victory. Countless combinations of companies, CEOs, starting conditions, bonuses, and objectives ensure high replayability and variety in gameplay.
