In 2020, the board game world watched as Madeira, a promising strategy gem, vanished alongside its publisher, Whatz Your Game.

They had disappeared without explanation. To this day, no one knows what happened to WYG – there were only speculations. Nearly 4,000 backers were left empty-handed, and designers Paulo Soledade and Nuno Sentieiro never received royalties. The silence was deafening. It was a horrible situation and a great breach of trust.

But the story doesn’t end here.

Paulo and Nuno had also designed another game – NIPPON. It became a beloved classic and now is long out of print. For a long time, Paulo and Nuno carried the weight of the Madeira campaign’s collapse — left without a publisher and without a path forward. In 2024 we at CrowD Games, reached out to Paulo and Nuno, and decided to join forces with one thought in mind: Nippon must return. This masterpiece deserves a second chance.

And yes, we are going to Kickstarter.
